2019 Project Pan Update 1

For 2019, I embarked on a year-long project pan that was a little more loosely organized than my previous attempts. I didn’t want to get bogged down in certain products and start feeling resentful of the project.

Tarte Maracuja Oil

April 2019

I’ve been making some solid progress with my Maracuja Oil. But it still has a long way to go. Even with dedicated use, I won’t be able to use this up by the end of the year. Even though the large size is the best value, I won’t ever purchase it again. It’s too difficult to transport while traveling, and the product is practically guaranteed to go off or be less effective by the time I finish it. Still, it has been helping my skin stay nourished during a long, dry winter. Since it’s fairly lightweight, I have hope for it through spring and summer.

La Neige Lip Sleeping Mask

April 2019

I do love this product, but I have the same issue I had before that once I put this on my lips, I don’t want to drink any water or anything. Since I have water by my bed, it means this has to be the absolute last thing I do at night. And frankly, I just sometimes forget. I’ve tried using a lighter coat in the morning first thing when I wake up, since I won’t really drink anything until I get to work and have my first coffee. But it’s just more effective overnight, especially when used with a scrub.

Rosebud Perfume Co. Strawberry Lip Balm

I’ve been making decent progress on this product. But I can’t seem to get photos of the interior that capture the dip. Once I hit pan (maybe this quarter?!) I’m hoping my camera skills will improve.

Koty Airspun Loose Powder

Again, this is a product that doesn’t travel well. When I was younger I used to bring loose powders with me on vacation. I would tape up the top so the loose powder wouldn’t escape everywhere. Then I would bring extra tape for when that would stop sticking. Still, I’m impressed with the progress I’m making. This does make me look very powdery. It’s a great setting powder, despite the old lady scent, but I absolutely have to brush at my face with a giant powder brush then spray a setting powder.

Five Mascaras

I just realized my Marc Jacobs mascara has been open since November. Meaning, it’s probably about time for it to go. I did toss the Tarte Lash Paint in my purse, and I’m in love with a Wander Beauty mascara that replaced it as my purse mascara. Quite frankly, with its length and lift, sometimes I go get it out of my purse rather than using the Marc Jacobs one. Perhaps it’s time to bid adieu to that one completely.

1/5 down…

Body Lotions

I finally finished one of those giant lotion bottles that I have had for too long and replaced it. I’m also nearly done with a Jergens gradual tan lotion and a coconut lime Tree Hut shea butter that I really enjoy. Still, I’m not doing great at this, and my elbows in particular wish I was a little more diligent with my lotion usage.

NCLA Nail Cuticle Oil

Cuticle oil is still a product I just can’t figure out. This may be one of those things that ends up sticking around in my collection because I feel like I should have it.

The Brow Gal Brow Trio

January 2019
April 2019

I’m kind of shocked that I haven’t yet hit pan on the dark color. I usually go through with the light color to fill in the overall shape of my brows. Then I use the dark shade anywhere that looks a little sparse. Then I comb everything out so hopefully it looks more natural. I wouldn’t even know where to start when it comes to “carved” brows. So I’m not going to try. Plus, I think more natural looks are coming back.

Tarte Pout Prep Lip Exfoliant

I moved this into the shower to remind myself to use it more. But I think with the humidity of the shower, the exfoliating aspect (sugar?) dissolves too quickly to be effective. Still, I made a little progress on this one.

So far, I’m pleased with the progress on my project pan, especially in conjunction with the progress I made on my 19 for 2019 goals of using all my eyeshadows and all my lipsticks. I also canceled my Boxycharm finally, which will limit the amount of junk coming into my collection that I feel obligated to use.

Are you Project Panning this year? How’s your progress coming along?
